Plants you can grow in The Salad Table
Fancy Lettuce
One of the most commonly grown and used plants on the planet consisting of many varieties including oakleaf, coral, butter, looseleaf and the list goes on.
Fancy Lettuce: The name covers a wide variety of lettuce that mainly include leafy types such as green oak, red oak, coral and butter head. These are the varieties that you normally see year round on the supermarket shelves packaged in clear plastic sleeves with the roots intact. The vast majority have been grown using a farm technique called NFT or Nutrient Film Technique which is the same process used by The Salad Table. Head type lettuce such as iceberg are only suited to cooler months.
Growing Seedlings:
The Salad Table - When growing your own seedlings using The Salad Table Grow Cubes place 1 seed directly in to the predrilled hole and pop on your window sill where it will receive a couple of hours sun a day. Click here for more info on how to use Grow Cubes.
Soil garden - sprinkle seeds evenly along a furrow and thin out as they start to grow. Depth should be 3 times seed size. Take out the weaker plants to achieve approx 250mm spacing. Punnets may also be used to raise seedlings but ensure premium seed raising mix is used and feed regularly. The Salad Table Nutrient is ideal.

After about 4 weeks your Grow Cube grown fancy lettuce will be ready to pop straight in to The Salad Table.  This the cleanest and fastest way to plant any type of seedlings. For soil growing bury up to the base of the plant and ensure they are thoroughly watered in until the roots have developed.
Planting:
The Salad Table - after about 4 weeks break off cube and place directly into hole. Use close spaced holes (certain models) for growing smaller sweeter lettuce
